Plastic round feeder. Can holds 2kg of bee food (syrups and others) ideal for beehives. Diameter 26,4cm and 4,8cm height.
2 kg CAPACITY | 265 mm DIAMETER |
48 mm HEIGHT | 400 g EMPTY WEIGHT |
A 2 kg crown-board feeder for syrup or liquid feed, without opening up the whole hive.
Feeding from an open container inside the hive brings two familiar problems: bees drown in the syrup, and the smell draws robbers. This feeder sits between the roof and the frames and designs both of them out.
01 · INSTALLATION
It is built as a crown board: it rests between the roof and the frames, exactly where an ordinary crown board would sit. No empty super, no modification to the hive.
02 · HIVE HEALTH
The lid is clear, so you read the feed level at a glance without lifting the crown board or chilling the brood nest. The bees come up through the centre and drink from the inner rim, so they are not landing in the syrup. And because it rests straight on the frames, the feed sits close to the cluster and in the warm part of the hive: bees that have to cross a cold gap to reach syrup lose mobility, and that is where drowning happens.
03 · CLEANING
Syrup crystallises and the feeder needs cleaning between uses: scrape it out, wash with pressurised water at 60 °C and use a proper disinfectant. The units nest into one another, so out of season they take a fraction of the shelf space.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
You are buying the feeder and its clear lid on their own. Feed is separate — and it is worth taking the feeder off at the end of the feeding season rather than leaving it in place with residue inside. The feeder helps you administer feed cleanly; how much and when to give it depends on stores, weather and what you are aiming for, not on the container.

| Format | Crown board, with central access |

Yes, that is how it works: it is shaped as an inner cover and rests on the top bars, where a normal inner cover would go, with no empty super or extra piece. The bees climb up through the central opening and drink along the inner rim. The only thing to check is the space: it is 265 mm across and 48 mm high and has to fit under the roof; on a narrow nuc, measure the inside first, because it does not fit every five-frame box.
