01 · CAPACITY AND FILLING

The embossing is not just decoration: it marks the kilo

Each jar takes 1 kg of honey — or about 470 g of pollen — in its 746 ml. The 77 mm mouth is genuinely wide: thick honey goes in without spilling over the rim, and you can fill straight from the tank or the strainer, even with honey starting to granulate. And a trick everyone who uses them discovers: the embossed cells on the side give you a reference for judging the kilo by eye, without weighing every jar.

02 · THE LID

Not included, and the photo shows one on

It closes with a 77 mm Twist-Off lid, which is bought separately — worth saying twice, because the product image shows it fitted and more than one customer has received the jars without one. TO 77 lids come in honeycomb, gold, silver, white, black, bronze and with an embossed bee; in packs of 16 or 25 to go with these jars, or in boxes of 950 if you jar in series.

03 · GLASS AND HEAT

Cold filling: with a water bath, go slowly

This is a cold-fill jar — the honey goes in at room temperature and there is nothing more to it. If you also plan to use it for water-bath preserving, reckon with thermal shock: putting cold glass into hot water, or pulling it out suddenly, is the fastest way to crack a jar. Bring the temperature up and down slowly, water covering, and even then accept that one may go. It is not the ideal container for that.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

The pack is 16 jars and weighs 5 kg: it is glass, so if the parcel arrives knocked about, check it before signing. If you need volume, the same jar comes by the pallet.
