Bee signs

There are two different things in this category, and only one of them is optional.

Apiary signage is not decoration

Across much of Spain, signposting the apiary is a legal obligation: regional beekeeping rules require indicating the presence of hives, and in many cases the apiary registration number too. It is what stops someone walking in unaware, and the first thing an inspection looks at.

Before buying, check what your own region requires: the mandatory wording, the size and sometimes whether the REGA number must appear all vary. A generic sign does the job of warning, but not necessarily the formal requirement.

Put it where it can be seen from the approach to the apiary, not among the hives, and in a material that survives sun and rain. A sign that is illegible after two years signposts nothing.

The other thing: identifying yourself as a beekeeper

Stickers and vinyls for the car, from €1.99. They meet no obligation, but they have a practical use that gets little mention: if you are off to collect a swarm or working beside a road, an identified vehicle explains what you are doing on its own.

And they work as a card at a market. Next to a honey stall, the vinyl says that the person selling is the person keeping them — which is exactly what people want to know.

The rest of the handling equipment is in beekeeping equipment, and protective kit in clothing.
