01 · WHERE TO PUT IT

Before the hazard, not on top of it

The sign belongs where someone can still turn back: the head of the track, the gate, the point where the path draws near the apiary. Hung on the row of hives itself it comes too late — to read it you are already in the flight path. Think about where somebody who does not know there are bees comes in, and put the warning there.

02 · FIXING

The four holes are there for a reason

It has four reinforced holes, one per corner, and it is worth using all four: tied by only two, the wind makes it flap and the tear always starts at the hole. With cable ties, leave a little slack so it does not work under tension. It is a light piece of about 100 g, not a rigid site board: on an exposed spot, mount it on a firm support rather than leaving it hanging.

03 · WHAT IT DOES NOT DO

It informs, but it neither protects nor identifies

A sign warns; what actually cuts the risk is the siting, the hedge or fence that forces the bees to fly high, and the distance to paths and houses. Nor is it the official identification of the apiary: whatever your country's rules require goes separately and this sign does not replace it.
