The sign that warns there are hives before anyone walks up to them: «¡ATENCIÓN! ABEJAS» on safety yellow.
A corrugated polypropylene board, 35 × 25 cm, screen-printed in black, with boxes to write your holding number and four metal eyelets at the corners.
01 · WHAT IT IS AND HOW LONG IT LASTS
Worth saying before you buy: this is a corrugated plastic board, not an iron plate. In exchange it does not rust or streak, it weighs 10 grams and hangs anywhere without fittings. What it asks is what any outdoor plastic asks: in permanent sun the material tires and the colour fades within a couple of seasons. If the apiary faces full midday sun all year, back it with a board and count on replacing it; if you want a sign for twenty years, yours is metal.
02 · YOUR HOLDING NUMBER
The lower band has boxes to write your holding number with a permanent marker. If your number is longer than the boxes, write it straight across the band: what counts is that it can be read, not that each digit lands in its square. The four riveted metal eyelets — not holes punched in the plastic, which tear in the wind — take a cable tie or a wire at each corner, and the sign is fixed to the fence, the post or the hive itself in a minute.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
Signage requirements vary by region: check with your local authority what yours demands before considering the apiary signposted. This sign does the job of warning and of identifying your holding; it does not replace your registration paperwork or the legal siting distances where you keep bees.
