Details of SCHLEY Gooseneck LED Lamp

Single-point LED lamp with a 30 cm gooseneck and a magnetic foot, for the instrumental insemination of queens.

It is a single-point lamp, not a twin one. And that is not a simplification to make it cheaper: intense light harms drone semen. Everything else follows from there.

01 · A POINT OF LIGHT, NOT A FLOOD

Which is exactly what is wanted

The emitter gives light in a warm tone, 3000 K, and casts no light sideways. Concentrating it on one point keeps the semen column from taking more intensity than it needs: the maker warns that holding it under intense light for twenty minutes is harmful, and that with a wide beam angle that cannot be avoided.

02 · IT IS NOT A RING LIGHT

They complement each other, they are not alternatives

The ring light in our range, €29.71, lights the whole field, and the factory LEDs on many stereo microscopes give open, cold light of the order of 6000 K: fine for placing the queen. For the semen column this directed, warm beam is preferred.

03 · A 7 MM, 30 CM GOOSENECK

On and off with one hand

The neck measures Ø 7 mm and 30 cm, just enough to aim the beam without getting in the way over the stereo microscope, and the magnetic foot grips on the adhesive disc included. The maker also offers this LED without the long neck, on a double magnetic ball joint at the head holder: ask us if you are short of space.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

One point of light, not two arms. And light to spare is not free.

✓ A GOOD FITInstrumental insemination with a stereo microscope: a 3000 K point of light aimed with a gooseneck.
⚠ IT IS A SINGLE EMITTEROne point of light, not two arms. It is deliberate: concentrating the beam avoids exposing the semen to light it does not need.
✕ IT IS NOT WHOLE-FIELD LIGHTINGThat is what the microscope ring light is for, €29.71. This one is a directed beam.
