Dadant Hives, also known as an industrial hive, was designed in the USA by the American Dadant family and was one of the first modifications made to the Langstroth hive. Widely spread throughout eastern Spain and France, this is one of the most popular beehives. The Dadant hive has one of the best averages of honey production. It is of vertical growth, and with a good mechanization it allows to develop a transhumance and beekeeping on a large scale with efficiency. It is, together with the Langstroth, the beehive par excellence in the whole world.
