The brood body that insulates most and weighs least: high-density polystyrene for colonies that stay steadier through cold and heat.

🌡️ Thermal insulation, in cold and heat

The high-density EPS (over 100 kg/m³) insulates well both ways. In winter it helps the cluster hold its warmth; in summer it slows overheating. The colony spends less energy regulating the hive temperature and can put it into brood and build-up instead. It is why many colonies overwinter better in polystyrene.

🪶 Ultralight and easy to handle

At just 2 kg, the body lifts effortlessly — a clear difference when you run dozens of hives or migrate. It has moulded handholds on all four sides, so it grips securely with gloves on and leaves no protrusions to get in the way when stacking.

🔧 High density and reinforcement where it matters

Its high density makes it an extra-hardened polystyrene: it stands up to handling and resists rodents and microorganisms far better than soft foams. The joints and the frame rests are reinforced with plastic profiles — exactly the areas that take the most wear from the hive tool and propolis scraping, season after season.

📐 Dadant format and the BeeBox system

It is built for the Dadant frame, 42 × 27 cm, 10 per body. It fits the rest of the Paradise BeeBox system — floor, supers and roof — sold separately so you can build the hive to suit you. Keep the same format across your kit and you can swap brood and stores frames without trouble.
