Bees need fresh air, yes, but also stable warmth and humidity inside the hive. That’s where this opaque NICOT base with partial rear ventilation truly shines.

Made of recyclable food-grade plastic, this base is durable, lightweight, and easy to clean thanks to its smooth, non-porous surfaces. It has the same robust structure as the fully ventilated NICOT base, but with a partial ventilation grid at the rear to allow controlled airflow while avoiding direct drafts beneath the brood chamber.

Perfect for humid regions, cold winters, or early spring blooms, this base helps stabilize the internal environment, avoiding condensation while protecting the colony from excessive cooling. It’s an excellent choice for overwintering or raising strong early-season nuclei.

Fully compatible with Dadant Blatt and Langstroth hives, whether wooden or plastic. When used with Langstroth bodies, the slight overhang even acts as a natural rain shield — great for rainy climates.

It includes a notch to install an entrance reducer (sold separately) and side holes for fixing with screws or NICOT clips. The closed base design also provides excellent thermal insulation during cold nights.
