Details of ANEL LockFit Replacement Drawer

Removable tray for the LockFit bottom board with a printed grid for varroa counting. Because the base has open mesh underneath, anything the colony drops —wax, debris, falling varroa— passes through and ends up on the ground if the tray isn't fitted. The tray is the part that decides between collecting everything or ventilating everything: in for monitoring, out for maximum airflow.

🔄 Collect or ventilate, your call

Without the tray, the floor mesh lets crushed wax, brood debris and falling varroa drop to the ground: maximum ventilation, useful in summer and during heavy honey flows. With the tray fitted, all of that lands on the grid and you can read it. Inserts from the front —extending the landing board— or from the rear, where it sits inside and stays out of the entrance.

🐛 Grid for any monitoring

The printed grid turns the tray into a sampling sheet without lifting the base or disturbing the brood. Works for the three usual scenarios: natural mite drop over five days to decide if treatment is needed, after an oxalic acid sublimation the bulk of the induced drop shows in 24-72 h because the action is fast, and during a strip treatment —Apivar, Apitraz— you read the progressive drop week by week. A bit of vegetable oil on the floor traps the mites so they don't move again.

🧹 Cold rinse, no disassembly

Virgin polyethylene doesn't absorb propolis or wax and rinses with cold pressurised water: no scent crossover between hives, no scrubbing needed. For deeper cleaning, lukewarm water with neutral detergent and plenty of rinsing. Holds up well through harvest and treatment cycles without warping or yellowing.
