Anel
ANEL makes the Langstroth system in plastic in Greece: a complete hive at €66 and, more to the point, every part sold separately — body, shallow super, cover, LockFit floor, excluder, feeders, frames. Most of them under €3, which is what makes replacing cheap. 64 references.

More information about Anel
Buy the hive complete, or build it up
The ANEL plastic Langstroth hive is €66 complete. But what makes ANEL worth knowing is not that figure, it is that everything is sold separately: body or super (€21.65), shallow super (€20.62), cover (€16.49), base (€10.08), queen excluder (€1.56), plastic frame (€2.07). Break a cover, replace a cover.
The LockFit floor, and the detail that catches people
The LockFit hygienic floor (€10.70) clips together without screws and takes a removable tray for varroa counts — a spare tray is €2.47. One thing to watch: there are two ventilated bases and they do not include the same thing. The "LockFit ventilated base (€7.40)" comes without entrances; the Easy Click entrances are bought separately (€1.45, or €0.82 for a pair). Order the cheaper one expecting it complete and you will be missing the entrance.
ANEL plastic: when it pays and when it does not
Plastic does not rot, needs no flaming or painting and washes down with a pressure hose — which counts if you are carrying a health problem or moving equipment. It also weighs less than wood: good for lifting, worth strapping on a windy site. And it insulates differently, so in hard winters some keep wood for the brood chamber and plastic for everything else.
Feeders: where ANEL's range is deepest
This is where ANEL earns its place. There are top feeders (7.5 kg at €5.74; 4 kg for nucs at €6.60; transparent at €12.69; twin compartment at €9.01), frame feeders in Langstroth 3 kg (€5.37), Dadant Blatt and Dadant US 4 kg (€5.74 and €5.78), and an entrance feeder of 1.8 kg (€2.06). Choose by how you feed: the top feeder means not pulling frames, the frame feeder does not steal chamber space, the entrance feeder refills without opening anything but invites robbing if you overdo it.
