A 4 kg top feeder for nucs: refill it without opening the brood nest, and it costs you no frame.

In a 5- or 6-frame nuc every comb counts, and a frame feeder takes a sixth of the brood space just as the colony is trying to grow. This one sits above the frames, under the roof, in the space that serves no other purpose there.

01 · PERFORMANCE

Four kilos of autonomy without giving up a comb

With 4 kg of syrup per refill you cover a long stimulation cycle without going back every other day. Two side flaps, each with its own entrance, separate the syrup from the inside of the hive: the bees come up the edges and the rest stays closed, so you lift the roof and refill without opening the nest. That same wall insulates from above, which tells in a nuc with too little bee mass to hold temperature.

02 · COLONY HEALTH

The syrup stays inside, far from the entrance

In the late-summer dearth, an exposed feeder is an invitation to robbing. Here the feed sits at the top, inside the closed volume and as far from the entrance as the box allows, which reduces the chance of other colonies finding it. It does not remove it: with a weak colony or a wide-open entrance, you still need to reduce that entrance.

03 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Measure your nuc's rim: it needs 278 × 498 mm

Nucs from different makers do not share dimensions. This one measures 278 × 498 mm externally and bears on that whole perimeter; inside it leaves a trough of 160 × 420 mm. Measuring the rim before ordering is what saves you the return.
