01 · THE TWO COMPARTMENTS

3.5 + 3.5 litres working independently

You can put syrup in one and fondant in the other, feed two separate colonies with a divider above, or load all 7 L at once for winter preparation and not open up for weeks. Each compartment has a round hole pre-cut and plugged: opened, the bees reach solid feed from below; closed, it keeps the compartment tight for syrup. The practical approach is to open only one and leave the other sealed for liquid.

02 · WHY THE CAPS MATTER

Without them, bees get in through the central opening

It is the most repeated question and the answer matters: the central opening is there to introduce a caged queen or a cell without removing the feeder and to look inside. When you are not using it, it must be closed with the caps — and that is not cosmetic. With the hole open above 3.5 litres of syrup, bees get in, fall into the liquid and drown; and if they do not drown, they build comb in the gap. But it is not only the central cover: the four entrance reducers have to be seated properly in place. Assembled in full, the bees come up where they should and none drown; half-assembled, they get in where they should not. Reference NCCDB10CABOCHON, two per feeder.

03 · DAY TO DAY

It takes a slope and cleans without ceremony

A single moulded piece in recyclable food-grade plastic that tolerates up to 25 mm of hive tilt without spilling syrup — welcome on uneven ground and out-of-level pallets. The surface is non-porous: wash it with pressurised water up to 60 °C and disinfect between seasons, so no fermented sugar or mould builds up. It includes 4 removable entrance reducers to control where the bees come up and 2 plugs for the pre-cut holes.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Add 2 caps to the basket per feeder: without them it is not complete. And check your hive: it is for 10-frame Dadant Blatt and Langstroth/Dadant US; on other formats it does not sit properly.
