2 PER FEEDER | NICOT 7 L COMPATIBILITY |
Clear replacement cabochon for the 7-litre NICOT® crown feeder: the cap that closes the central passage the bees come up through.
Sold per unit, and each feeder takes two, one on each side of the chimney.
01 · WHAT HAPPENS WITHOUT IT
The NICOT feeder has a central chimney the bees climb to reach the syrup. The cabochon is what turns it into a controlled passage rather than an open gap. Without it two things happen, and both are a nuisance: lift the outer roof and you find the bees coming out through the middle of the feeder instead of staying inside, and once the colony takes to the space it starts building comb inside the chimney, which then has to be scraped out. With the cabochon in place, you open the roof and the hive stays closed.
02 · CLEAR, AND FOR A REASON
The polypropylene is translucent, so you can check how the central area is doing — whether there are bees, whether they have started building, whether the syrup is going down — without removing the piece. On a quick inspection that is five seconds instead of dismantling; and on cold days, looking without opening is exactly what you want to do.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
It is a replacement part, not an accessory that extends the feeder: it is for replacing one that has broken, gone missing or warped. This reference is 1 unit, and a complete feeder needs 2 — if you are equipping one from scratch, add two to the order. Compatible only with the 7-litre NICOT® crown feeder.
