Replacement cap for the central hole of ANEL® roof feeders: with it in you work with syrup, without it with candi.
It is a push fit with a pull tab: in and out with your fingers, even with gloves on.
01 · THE TWO MODES
The central hole of a roof feeder is the way through to solid feed: you uncap it in autumn and the bees go up to work the patty from below. With the cap in, that same feeder is sealed and takes syrup. One roof unit, two feeding modes, and the only thing that changes between them is this cap.
02 · THE DAY IT IS MISSING
The problem shows up in February. You took the cap off in autumn for the candi, the moment comes to stimulate with 1:1 syrup, and the cap is lost in some drawer. You fill the feeder and the syrup runs through the hole into the nest: sticky hive, drowned bees and robbing under way. That is why it is sold singly — more go missing than you would think — and why it pays to keep a couple spare before the feeding season.
