ANEL® LockFit Plastic Screened Bottom Board for Langstroth - Set with Tray, Entrance Door and Legs

01 · THE SIZE

10-frame Langstroth, wood or plastic

The reinforced perimeter frame sits on 10-frame Langstroth bodies of wood or plastic (the ANEL 595) without adapters. It is held with metal staples for removable use or with screws through the small perimeter holes; the large holes in the base are for screwing it to the migratory pallet. It measures 55 × 42 × 10 cm outside. It does not fit Dadant, Layens or 8-frame Langstroth: the footprint is different.

02 · THE TRAY

Front for counting varroa; rear for travelling

The tray carries a printed grid for counting varroa drop: treatment, tray in for 24 hours, count by squares and an objective reading for each hive. It slides in from the front, where it extends the landing board and softens the landing, or from the rear, where it stays fixed and protected without protruding: the position for migration, to stack on the pallet, and for winter, when it is left in to cut the airflow through the base. The rest of the year, tray out and mesh open: the varroa that falls does not climb back.

03 · ENTRANCE AND FEET

Rotating against wasps and mice; feet against the soil

The blue rotating entrance has one face with holes and one blind face: turning it closes the hive for transport or treatment, and it stops wasps, death’s-head hawkmoths, mice and snakes. It comes out with a sideways push, no tool (spare 3244). The black feet push-fit under the board, lift it off the ground and stop soil and stones entering through the base holes. It has guides for a vertical division board, for two nucs in the same box, and receptacles for the ANEL base pollen collector (1317).

04 · VERSUS THE CLASSIC BASE

What changes from the AN5100V

ANEL’s classic ventilated base (594) has mesh but no tray guides, so it neither counts varroa nor modulates ventilation; its integrated feet add height on the pallet and its landing board always protrudes. The LockFit adds the tray, keeps the frame flat for migration and retracts the landing board when the tray goes in from the rear. Sold loose: the base without entrance or tray (3241) and the parts: foot 3242, tray 3243, entrance 3244.
