Deep Langstroth frame made from a single piece of plastic, with integrated foundation and a factory-applied wax coating.
It arrives ready to use without the need to assemble wooden parts, tension wire or attach a separate sheet; a practical solution when you are looking for rigid, uniform frames that are quick to prepare.
01 · CONSTRUCTION
The structure does not rely on wires or a sheet that could come loose due to heat or during extraction. It is a deep Langstroth frame with Hoffman side bars, with external dimensions of 48.2 × 23.1 × 3.5 cm. It is not a Dadant or Layens frame: check the brood-box format before mixing equipment.
02 · GAUGE
The manufacturer specifies foundation with a nominal cell size of 5.6 mm. If you work with a defined cell size, distinguish between worker and drone comb, or need consistency between batches, take this specification into account before adding the frame to your hive equipment.
03 · CLEANING
Remove wax and propolis with a hive tool without bending the cells. Avoid direct flame, water at an unspecified temperature and impacts that could deform the frame. If the surface film is lost through use, the subsequent response will depend on how it is reconditioned and the condition of the colony at the time.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
| ⚠ NOT INCLUDED | Factory wax coating helps; the colony decides when to stretch. The wax foundation provides the bees with a familiar surface, but does not force them to build on it immediately. Introduce the frame when there is sufficient population, temperature and foraging activity for the bees to work the wax. If the colony is not drawing fresh wax or forage has stalled, it may leave this frame undrawn just as it would conventional foundation. The available documentation confirms the factory wax coating, but does not substantiate the historical claim that the wax is “100% Spanish”. |
