01 · WHAT IT DOES
It rises with the syrup and holds the bee
The float rises and falls with the syrup level and keeps a surface the bee can climb onto to drink without dropping to the bottom of the tray. It is the only piece between the syrup and the bee: if it breaks or warps over the years, the hive starts losing foragers to drowning.
02 · WHEN YOU NOTICE IT FAILING
When losses turn up with no explanation
If you have had the feeder a couple of seasons and notice more losses than usual, it is normally float wear and not a health problem. It seats in the ribbed housing of the feeder itself, with no screws and no adhesive. If both are tired, order two and the feeder is as good as new.
