It does not locate a stolen hive. It identifies one — which is a different thing and, in practice, the one that gets it back.

ANEL Beehive ID tag, with a unique identifier read from your phone through the free ANEL Beekeeping app. It sticks or screws onto any hive, wooden or polystyrene.

01 · WHAT IT DOES AND WHAT IT DOES NOT

Identifying is not tracking

It is worth saying first: it is not a tracker. There is no GPS and no battery, and it does not tell you where the hive is. It gives it a unique identifier that is read with a phone.

In a theft that still counts, by another route: if the hives turn up, it lets you prove which are yours. It is proof of ownership, not tracking.

02 · WHAT IT IS FOR DAY TO DAY

Each hive's history, without a notebook

Scanning the tag opens that hive's record in the app ANEL Beekeeping, free for iOS and Android: health, treatments and production.

Its advantage over a painted number is that the data travels with the hive.

03 · WHERE IT GOES

Under the lid, and with a screw if you mean it

Put it where you can bring the phone close: usually under the lid. It has adhesive, but to survive the weather it is worth fixing it with a screw as well.

It works on any hive, including those that are not ANEL.
