BroodMinder-W4 full hive scale: two aluminium bars of 50 × 4.2 × 4 cm with four 100 kg load cells that slide under the hive, on a wooden or metal pallet, and stay in place all year, transport included. It logs weight every hour, stores about 7,000 readings and sends them by Bluetooth to the app or the BroodMinder-Cell Hub (2393); two AA lithium cells for up to five years. About 2.6 kg.

The weight curve tells what happens inside without opening: when the flow starts, whether they draw on stores or have swarmed, and which apiary is worth the trip.

01 · MADE FOR MIGRATION

Stays under the hive, even on the truck

The two independent bars support the hive front and back, so nothing is dismantled between blooms: installed once, it travels in place. It works on a wooden or metal pallet and in any position, horizontal or vertical, with no levelling or centring; for Nicot bases there are optional centring pins. The grooved surface stops the hive sliding when loading, and folded it fits under the seat.

02 · THE DATA

One reading an hour; Bluetooth or Hub

It logs weight every hour (configurable to 15 minutes) and stores about 7,000 readings. When you pass by, the BroodMinder Bees app downloads the history by Bluetooth Low Energy, at 30 m or more; with a BroodMinder-Cell Hub (2393) at the apiary, the data go up by mobile network and the curve shows on phone or computer without travelling. Crossed with a brood sensor (2390, 2399), the app computes its Nectar Index and compares hives. It does not replace the visit: it tells you which apiary to go to and with what kit.

03 · WHAT YOU READ

Flow, stores, swarming and a lost colony

A rise of 1-2 kg a day is a strong flow and time for supers; a gradual drop in winter is store consumption and marks when to feed; a sudden drop in season is the signature of a swarm; and a flat weight following outside temperature warns of a dead colony. The accuracy of ±100 g per 10 °C, according to BroodMinder, follows these big movements with room to spare. With three hives per site, one strong, one average and one weak, the data represent the rest; the best one alone misleads by optimism.

04 · WHAT IT CARRIES

Maintenance-free aluminium, 400 kg, five-year cells

Aluminium structure that stands the weather without maintenance and carries up to 400 kg, room for a Dadant with two supers in full flow. Two AA lithium cells included, up to five years according to the maker. The K2 PRO kit (2396) pairs it with sensors and Hub; the anti-theft GPS (1031) is another thing: this scale does not locate.
