Portable gas fogger made in Greece by ANEL, turning a liquid into dense fog as it passes through a hot copper coil.

It runs on a butane or propane cartridge and needs no electricity and no embers, so it can be worked in the field and where an open flame would be a risk. Spark ignition built in, output metered by trigger.

01 · WHAT LIQUID IT TAKES

Glycerine and oils, not water and not medicines

This is the question that comes up most, so it goes first. The tank is made for glycerine, mineral oil or vegetable oils: liquids that fog well when hot and do not attack the circuit. It is not a machine for putting medicines in, nor loose active substances: veterinary treatments require an authorised medicine applied by its approved route, and thermal fogging is not one. A liquid burning or fogging well does not make it a treatment.

02 · IT IS NOT A SUBLIMATOR

It vaporises liquids; sublimating is a different machine

A sublimator takes solid oxalic acid to a controlled temperature so it passes straight into vapour. The Fogger vaporises liquids, and on top of that it does not control the coil temperature. That is why it will not sublimate, and why we advise against putting oxalic acid in it: with no thermal control there is no guarantee of anything, and the circuit blocks. If sublimating is what you want, the machine is a sublimator.

03 · HOW IT IS WORKED

White fog tells you it is right

Each pull of the trigger releases about 2 ml, and the rhythm that gives dry, even fog is one every 3-4 seconds. The colour is the indicator: white is correct; yellowish or dripping means you are pumping too fast. Work with the unit horizontal to the ground. For a hive, 5-10 cm from the entrance; for surfaces or ground, a metre and a half from the target.

04 · MAINTENANCE

Pump before lighting, vaseline before storing

Before lighting, pump by hand until you see liquid coming out steadily: firing it with a dry or blocked circuit is what damages the coil. When you finish, empty the tank and fog with liquid vaseline to leave it protected against blockage and corrosion, and close the gas valve fully. The tank is a single built-in one, reusable, and no spare tanks are supplied.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

The gas cartridge is not included. And an honest note on scale: the tank leaves a residue that never gets fogged, so with few hives you throw away a fair amount of liquid per session. At volume it pays; with five hives, less so.

✕ DOESN'T FIT	Sublimating oxalic acid, applying medicines, and working with very few hives given the residue left in the tank.
⚠ NOT INCLUDED	The gas cartridge, the liquid to be fogged or spare tanks.

PRECAUTIONS

Respirator with a filter and eye protection, always. Do not breathe the fog and do not aim it at people, animals or food. A cloth mask will not do: you need a filter suited to whatever you are fogging.

Trigger lock on when lighting and the gas valve fully closed when you finish. Work with the unit horizontal and away from flammable material.

Authorised treatments only. In Spain, applying unauthorised varroa treatments is illegal and can carry administrative or criminal penalties; in other countries check what is authorised locally. Registered medicines and their routes of application are in the health section of this site.
