Details of 10F Poly Dadant Blatt brood body Paradise®

It is made of extra-hardened expanded polystyrene (EPS) with a density above 100 kg/m³ — well beyond ordinary white foam, so it stands up to handling and stacking without crumbling. An ultralight material that insulates both cold and heat, thus helping to facilitate the work of bees that will not need to make an extra effort to regulate the temperature inside the hive. Frames not included.

Painting: outside only, and not just any paint

Polystyrene does not rot and does not take up moisture, but the sun does attack it: a coat of paint is not cosmetic, it is what makes the body last decades. Use water-based exterior paint or polyurethane, preferably UV-protected. What must not go on it is enamel or anything with solvent: they attack polystyrene. And paint the outside only — leave the inside bare, because the bees end up coating it in propolis anyway.
