01 · WHAT ARRIVES

1016 jars, no lids, and that is deliberate

The pallet holds 1016 glass jars and no closures. Lids come separately on purpose: anyone bottling a season picks colour, type and treatment to suit their line — gold, black, decorated, vented for hot filling — and that choice cannot be made for you. Plan to order them with the same purchase: 1016 TO77 lids, which is a long box of lids, not a handful.

02 · THE MOUTH PICKS THE LID

This same jar exists in 77 and in 82

Same kilo, same embossing, same capacity: all that changes is five millimetres of thread. It is not a detail, because TO77 and TO82 are not interchangeable: the mouth you choose today is the lid format you will reorder for years. If you already have boxes of lids at home, start there and not the other way round. If you are starting from scratch, keep a single mouth across your whole line so you do not end up with two stocks that cannot cover each other. The 82 version is pallet 110210-BOCA82.

03 · THE JAR, IN FIGURES

746 ml make a kilo, because honey weighs more than water

The maker’s drawing sets it out: 746 ml brimful, 134.9 mm tall and 98.4 mm across the body, with 320 g of glass per unit. That 746 ml should be a kilo puzzles people until you do the sum: honey runs at about 1.4 kg per litre, so a one-kilo container necessarily holds less than a litre. The embossing is 26 hexagons per row in relief of about 0.6 mm, and the base carries the maker’s mark, the mould number and the date.

04 · A PALLET IS A PALLET

325 kg of glass arriving at your door

Worth doing this sum before ordering rather than after: 1016 jars at 320 g come to roughly 325 kg of glass alone, plus the pallet and the packaging. That is not unloaded by hand or carried up a staircase. Before you give the delivery address, make sure there is room at the tailgate and a pallet truck or forklift to move it, and somewhere dry and level to set it down.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

The paperwork comes with the page and downloads from here: declaration of conformity under Regulation (EC) 1935/2004, a food-contact suitability certificate and the maker’s dimension drawing. Per that declaration the manufacturer is Verallia Spain. It is what you will be asked for if you bottle for sale. And if you cannot fill a pallet yet, the same jar comes in packs of 16.
