Case of 950 gold metal TO 77 Twist-Off lids for packers running complete production batches.
The technical specification identifies a six-lug closure for a GPI 2040 glass-jar finish, suitable for food contact and pasteurisation up to 100 °C for 60 minutes. TO 77 identifies the finish; measuring the outside of the jar is not enough.
01 · COMPATIBILITY
Check the GPI 2040 profile and six lugs
Fits glass jars with a TO 77 Twist-Off finish conforming to GPI 2040. A similar diameter with a different lug count or high finish may not close correctly. Test the exact lid, jar and process before filling a production run.
02 · HEAT PROCESS
Pasteurisable as part of a validated pack
The specification states pasteurisation up to 100 °C for 60 minutes. This is not general approval for sterilisation: temperature, pressure, vacuum, compound, product and jar must be validated as a system. Do not mix closure lots or finish profiles in one run.
03 · STORAGE
Protect the sealing compound before use
Store clean and dry in the original packaging at 5–35 °C and no more than 70 % relative humidity. Documentation gives a maximum of two years unless specifically approved. Prevent impacts to the curl, dust and stacking that can distort the lugs.
FROM THE APIARY
A Twist-Off does not screw on like a bottle cap: the six lugs ride up a short ramp and the whole closure is a quarter turn. Sit it flat until you feel it settle, turn to the stop and leave it there: carrying on does not seal better, it bends the lug and leaves the jar impossible to open. If it grates or feels like the thread has stripped, lift it off and set it down again — there is no thread to strip, a lug has ridden over its ramp.
