01 · HOW MUCH IT REALLY HOLDS

Half a kilo filled well; leave more neck and it is less

The 370 ml are to the brim. Filled right up, half a kilo of honey goes in comfortably, but if you leave the usual headspace below the neck the real content falls short of it. That is not a fault of the jar, it is arithmetic — and worth knowing before printing labels: if you are going to declare 500 g, weigh the first jars of the run rather than assuming, because honey density varies too.

02 · THE LID IS SEPARATE

Twist-off 77, and careful if you pasteurise

The jar is sold without a lid: it closes with a 77 mm twist-off lid, available in gold, silver, white, black, bronze, honeycomb or with a bee, in packs of 16 and 25 or by the box. And a warning drawn from experience: over-tightening strips the turn, and in a water bath the lid can pop. Close to the stop and stop there: the seal is made by the compound against the glass rim, not by force.

03 · PACK OR PALLET

Two ways to buy it, depending on how you pack

In packs of 25 like this one, with a quantity discount — the more packs, the cheaper the jar — which is the convenient way to keep packing without stockpiling glass. Or as a full pallet of 4,116 units, the lowest cost per jar, if you have the space and the means to handle palletised loads. Between the two there is a wide gap in unit price and none at all in product: it is the same jar.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

It works just as well for pollen, jams, preserves and sauces: it is a conventional plain glass jar, not a honey-only format. And as with all glass, check the order on arrival.
