Uniting two colonies requires them to share scent before removing the separator. This 425 x 500 mm NICOT grid is placed between two Dadant Blatt hives to facilitate this transition gradually.
The perforated surface allows the exchange of scents and pheromones without allowing bees to pass through most of the holes. This provides time to observe the response of both colonies before completing the union.
Two corners incorporate six larger holes, 4.2 mm, intended for worker bee passage. Orient these corners towards the bee entrance to respect the intended design direction.
Before stacking, confirm that only the chosen queen remains and that the cluster is stable. The grid does not guarantee the absence of fighting or queen acceptance: follow a joining protocol and monitor the process.
