Plastic mesh roll for the collection of propolis. It can also be used to control varroa infestation in the hive. It is cut to size and placed at the top of the frames, so that the bees will fill the holes with propolis. Once ready, it is enough to remove the complete grill, to store it in the freezer.

Once hardened, propolis can be collected by twisting the net. Served in 25m rolls. 500mm wide.

Details of Plastic Propolis mesh roll 25m

Bees seal with propolis every gap they cannot cross. A screen simply offers them a lot of them.

A 25-metre roll of diamond mesh in high-density polyethylene, half a metre wide. You cut it to the size of whatever hive you keep.

01 · HOW IT IS HARVESTED

From the frames to the freezer, and from the freezer to the jar

It sits on top of the frames, under the crown board, and the bees fill it diamond by diamond. Once loaded, take it out and give it 12 to 24 hours in the freezer: the propolis turns brittle and, when you twist the mesh, it comes away on its own — clean, with no wax or splinters, unlike scraping it off the crown board.

The same screen goes back into the hive: harvesting does not wear it out.

02 · ONE ROLL, ANY FORMAT

Which is why it is sold by the metre

Twenty-five metres by half a metre cut with scissors to the width of a Layens, a Dadant or a nucleus box: which is what a pre-cut panel cannot do.

03 · THE SECOND USE

3.4 mm: the mite goes through, the bee does not

With a 3.4 × 3.2 mm diamond, a varroa mite drops and a bee does not. Cut to the size of the floor and laid over the tray, it lets you count the natural mite drop without the bees reaching them.

That is monitoring, not treatment: it tells you when to treat, with an authorised product.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

It is mesh by the metre, not a panel ready to drop in:

✕ DOESN'T FIT	Anyone who would rather skip the freezer: that is the flexible screen, which releases the harvest by hand at 17-20 °C.
