01 · THE THREE WAYS TO GIVE IT

Syrup, patty or spray — the dose is the same

The 5 ml per hive goes in three ways and you pick whichever suits your handling. In syrup: 5 ml in a litre of 1:1 syrup. In a patty: 5 ml per 500 g of pollen-substitute patty, worked in before you portion it. And sprayed: 5 ml diluted in 200 ml of syrup, misted straight onto the bees — the quickest route when you are not feeding but still want to give it. The maker says to repeat it several times a year.

02 · WHAT IS IN IT

Essential oils and polyphenols, and no additives at all

The composition is short and worth reading in full: essential oils, sucrose, plant polyphenols and purified water. Additives: none. The analysis declares 0.92 % protein and under 0.1 % fibre, ash and fat, with calcium 27.9 mg/kg, sodium 17.3 and magnesium 14.7. So it is not a nutritional supply: it is a plant-extract supplement that goes alongside the feed, not instead of it.

03 · STORAGE, AND WHAT IT LEAVES BEHIND

Cool and dark, and shake before use

Keep it cool and dark, and reseal the bottle properly after each use. Shake it before measuring: it carries essential oils and they separate on standing, so without shaking the first dose comes out loaded and the last one watery. The maker declares that it leaves no residue in wax or honey.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

At 5 ml per hive, the 500 ml bottle covers 100 hives per application — and there are three sizes in the range: 200 ml, 500 ml and 1000 ml. Choose by hive count and by how many times you will repeat it during the year, not by the price of the bottle. And the important part: it is a supplement, not a veterinary treatment and not a replacement for syrup or patty.
