A thick high-fructose syrup, near enough the consistency of honey: feed it neat to build stores or let down with water to stimulate.
It carries 79% dry matter and a sugar profile of 37% fructose and 32% glucose. It is made from Spanish, non-GMO raw material, the same that goes into human food, and thanks to the fructose it does not crystallise in the container.
01 · COMPOSITION
In a bee syrup, what separates one from another is not the total sugar: it is the part the bee cannot use. Monosaccharides — glucose and fructose — and sucrose are taken up well; polysaccharides, starches and dextrins are not, and they load the gut in midwinter, exactly when the colony can least afford it. This syrup sits at 2% polysaccharides, so nearly everything that goes into the hive is usable. When you compare syrups, always ask for that figure on the spec sheet: it is the one that tells you most.
02 · NEAT OR DILUTED?
It comes very thick, and that thickness is a tool: you set it according to what you are after.

03 · HOW TO FEED IT
Feed goes where the colony can reach it without chilling: close to the cluster, in a top or frame feeder, not on the floor or at the entrance. Give only what they will take in a few days — syrup left standing for weeks ferments, and spills bring on robbing. And go steady with the amount: heavy feeding ends up stored in the combs, so if supers are on or a flow is coming in, think twice before feeding — next season's honey comes out of those same combs.
04 · AS A BASE
Being thick and easy to blend, plenty of beekeepers use it as a base ingredient: mixed with yeast, soya flour or another protein source it makes a home-made patty whose protein you tune to the point of the season. Just keep the roles clear: the syrup brings the energy, not the protein. If what the field is short of is pollen, no syrup replaces it — you will need a protein feed alongside.
05 · BEFORE YOU BUY
It is supplied in a 12 kg container, a size meant to keep feed on hand through the season without restocking every week.
