01 · IT ARRIVES AT 2:1
A 2:1 by weight is 66.7 % dry matter, and this syrup sits at 66-67 %: it comes ready. For wintering you serve it as it is. If you want to stimulate, the sum is water (L) = kg of syrup × (66.5 ÷ target dry matter − 1), knowing a litre of water weighs a kilo. For a 1:1 — 50 % dry matter, the density a colony reads as nectar coming in — that is 0.33 L per kilo: 4 litres into the 12 kg jerrycan, leaving 16 kg of ready syrup.
02 · THE SUGAR PROFILE
In a syrup the figure that really separates one from another is not total sugar but what the bee cannot use: the polysaccharides, which also load the gut through winter. Here they stay below 3 % and starch is absent. The rest is glucose 40-42 %, fructose 34-36 % and sucrose 16-20 %. pH runs between 3 and 5, in the acid band her gut is built for, and HMF stays under 20 ppm.
03 · HOW TO FEED IT
Put the syrup where the colony can reach it without chilling: top or frame feeder, near the cluster, never on the floor or at the entrance. Give what they will take in a few days — syrup left untouched for weeks ferments, and spills invite robbing. And the standing rule: do not feed during a flow if you are going to harvest that honey, because what goes in ends up in those same combs.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
Against Fructobee 79 from the same maker, the difference is density and what you want it for: the 79 comes at 79 % dry matter and has to be let down, this one arrives at 2:1. If you mostly stimulate, the dense one goes further per jerrycan; if you want to open and pour for wintering, this one. And it carries no protein: if what the field lacks is pollen, no syrup solves that.
