A 1 kg round feeder that sits on the crown board, with an inverted cup and a clear lid.

An open container inside the hive ends with bees in the syrup. This feeder works on an inverted cup: the feed drops as it is taken, and the bees reach it through an opening flush with the base instead of leaning over a pool.

01 · INSTALLATION

It sits on the crown board and that is it

It goes on top of the crown board, centred over its hole. The bees' access sits flush with the base of the feeder, about 2 mm above the surface: they come up through the central hole and drink from the rim, with no open surface to fall into.

02 · HIVE HEALTH

Read the level without opening up

Lid and cup are clear, so you see what is left at a glance without opening the hive or chilling the brood nest. Sitting straight on the crown board also keeps the feed in the warm, right above the cluster, which is where it gets taken quickly.

03 · CLEANING

Get the dried syrup out before storing it

Syrup crystallises: between uses it pays to scrape the residue out and wash the body and the cup. Storing it with residue inside is what spoils the next use and draws pests in the store room.
