Metal lid hook to secure the hive lid. Screwed or nailed through the top hole, it hooks onto a staple. Sold per unit: screws, nails and staple not included.
The lid hook is the classic metal catch for hives with a hinged lid, above all the Layens type. Together with the hinge on the opposite side, it holds the lid and lets you open and close the hive in one go, keeping it firmly shut against wind, transport or an animal opening it. It also works great on nucs with a hinged lid. A simple, sturdy piece, quick to fit.
Robust metal that withstands the weather and the bustle of the apiary. Fixed through the top hole, it pivots on that point; the curved end hooks onto the staple on the body and keeps the lid firm. Once fitted, it opens and closes without tools.
Sold per unit and on its own: it does not include the screws or nails to fix it nor the staple it hooks onto (that goes separately). The usual setup is two per lid, one on each side.
