The problem is not melting the wax, it is getting it out of the bath without burning yourself or spilling half of it on the way.
01 · THE HANDLE
43 cm between your hand and wax at 70 degrees
Wax is worked hot, and your hand has to stay clear of the steam and of the rim of the tank. The long handle lets you reach the bottom of a melter or a boiler without bringing your forearm close, and it gives you the angle to tip the bowl slowly: that is what stops the surge that overshoots the mould.
02 · THE MEASURE
450 ml is a dose, not just any ladle
When embossing foundation or filling moulds, what gives an even result is pouring the same amount every time. A bowl of known capacity turns that into routine: fill to the same level and repeat. In stainless steel the cold wax lifts off in one piece when you reheat it, and the same ladle will move honey.
03 · BEFORE YOU BUY
It is a transfer tool, not a melting one: the wax has to be melted first in a melter, a boiler or a solar unit. The bowl measures 12 × 6 cm and the whole thing is 47 cm long.
