Food-grade plastic inner bag for pollen cartons

Heavy-duty food-grade liner bag for 25 kg pollen cartons, made from a three-layer film of low-density and linear low-density polyethylene (LDPE + LLDPE) certified for food contact. Tailor-made to fit the standard carton size used for pollen export.

When you come back from the apiary with the pollen trap filled to the brim, that scent of rockrose, chestnut or wild meadow still on your gloves, you know your “ground gold” is in there. And you also know how fragile it is. Pollen takes on moisture from almost anything: a cold draft, a short ride on the trailer, a poorly closed box... and fermentation starts.

That’s where this food-grade bag with 500-gauge film becomes your best ally. The film is co-extruded in three layers, combining LDPE and LLDPE from 100% virgin material to provide elasticity and real strength to carry 25 kg of pollen without tearing, even when loading and unloading in a hurry. Slip and antiblock additives make filling and emptying easier, while anti-fog, antistatic, thermal and UVI additives help protect the product during transport, freezing and storage.

The film is transparent, neutral in odour and suitable for contact with all kinds of food at room temperature for extended periods. Reduced electrostatic charge limits dust and particle build-up, which is particularly useful in cold rooms. On top of that, the material is 100% recyclable and free from hazardous substances.

The usable dimensions, roughly 72 cm wide by 95 cm long, are designed to fit 25 kg pollen cartons, leaving just enough space to fold, close and secure the contents properly without air pockets. It works especially well with medium-sized collection tubs: you tip the pollen in, shake, adjust and close without fighting with the bag opening.

The “Swan Neck” technique: the closure that makes the difference

Leave 10–15 cm unfilled. Gently press out the air; less oxygen means less oxidation. Twist the neck of the bag until it forms a tight “rope”, fold it back on itself and secure it with tape or a cable tie. The result is an almost airtight closure which, combined with the carton, acts like a small insulated chamber against moisture and light.

This is a professional solution for moving pollen from the apiary to the warehouse, for maturation, for freezing fresh pollen and for storing dried pollen. After all the work your bees do – and the work you do – the least you can ask is that it reaches your customer in perfect condition.
