Quatronuc wooden mating nuc with 4 independent compartments (~29×22×34 cm outside, 5×10×14.5 cm inside per compartment). Transparent top covers for visual inspection without opening, built-in feeder and queen cell opening in each compartment. Dual use: in-season mating and overwintering of 4 spare queens.
The Quatronuc wooden nuc brings together 4 independent compartments in a single compact box (~29 × 22 × 34 cm) with a distinctive feature: transparent top covers that let you watch emergence, laying and the state of each mini-colony without opening, without smoking, without disturbing the bees. It works as a mating nuc during queen rearing season and also as an overwintering box, keeping 4 spare queens ready for the start of spring.
Each compartment has a clear top window: you can check whether the queen has left the cluster, whether she has started laying, whether the bees cover the frames well or whether the feeder needs topping up — all without opening the nuc. Drastically cuts down the number of inspections, which is key in mini nucs where every opening chills the unit and delays mating.
Outer box of ~29 × 22 × 34 cm split into 4 compartments of ~5 × 10 × 14.5 cm inside, each with its own frame, feeder and entrance. Work 4 queens in parallel in the footprint of a single unit, with a very low bee-per-queen cost.
Each compartment has its own feeder for syrup or candy without opening the nuc. It also has a dedicated opening to insert queen cells individually without uncovering the box — the cell slides through a prepared aperture into its compartment, keeping interior temperature stable and reducing the risk of damaging the cell.
In queen rearing season it works as a classic mating nuc: introduce a queen cell or virgin queen, wait for mating, remove the mated queen and start a new batch. Outside season it lets you overwinter 4 spare queens, using thermal synergy between the 4 mini-colonies to cut consumption and have queens ready in spring without depending on breeders' calendars.

⚠️ Important about mating: the Quatronuc is a management tool, it does not guarantee mating. Success depends on enough young bees in each compartment, reserves in each feeder, mature drones available, favourable weather (~20 °C, clear sky, low wind) and mini-colony health. The transparent covers are a diagnosis aid — they don't replace planning drone rearing about 5 weeks ahead or controlling varroa before stocking bees.
