Industrial bee bread harvester: it crushes the comb and separates the wax by blowing, up to 100 kg an hour.
The comb has to arrive frozen. It is an operating condition, not a recommendation: the machine breaks the comb, and for it to break cleanly instead of smearing, the wax has to be brittle. That means -18 to -20 °C for about 16 hours before you start.
01 · FREEZER FIRST, 16 HOURS
The full preparation is: free the combs of honey, dry them well and freeze them at -18 or -20 °C for about 16 hours. A damp or warm comb does not fragment, it flattens, and the wax ends up stuck to the bee bread instead of separating.
The calendar consequence has to be seen before buying: you need freezing capacity for the volume you intend to process, and sixteen hours of lead time in the planning. The machine is not the bottleneck; the freezer can be.
02 · IT CRUSHES AND BLOWS
A crushing unit breaks the comb and a blower then separates the pieces of wax from the bee bread, using the fact that they weigh differently: the grain of bee bread falls and the flake of wax flies. It is gravity separation with assistance, with no sieves to clog.
The result is collected in two plastic boxes, included: the small one for the bee bread and the large one for the wax waste. The feed hopper is 26 cm wide, generous enough to feed frozen comb without a struggle.
03 · WAX DUST IS NOT FOR BREATHING
Crushing frozen wax generates fine dust, and that dust stays in the air of the room if it is not retained. The machine mounts a polyamide screen filter over the wax collection bin for exactly that: so the dust stays inside and not in the working environment.
It is a design detail worth understanding for what it is — a protection of the environment, not an accessory — and worth keeping clean, because a clogged screen stops retaining.
04 · SINGLE PHASE OR THREE PHASE
It is ordered with a 1,100 W single-phase motor at 230 V or a 750 W three-phase one. The three-phase version asks less power for the same work, which is normal: a three-phase motor performs better and does not have the single-phase starting losses.
If the building has three-phase, that is the sensible option. If it does not, the 1,100 W single-phase fits any domestic circuit without touching the board. It turns at 1,400 rpm.
05 · WHAT COMES AFTERWARDS
What comes out of the comb is fresh bee bread, not finished product. Like pollen, it takes up moisture from the air and keeps in cold storage or dried — and drying, if you do it, is at a gentle temperature: above about 40 °C what makes the product valuable degrades.
The machine measures 840 × 430 × 930 mm and weighs 73 kg, with cleaning designed as part of the use. It handles up to 100 kg an hour.
