Continuous auger press for cappings: up to 100 kg an hour, cold, with a frequency inverter.
It separates the honey from the wax without heat, which is the opposite of melting. The mix goes into the hopper, the auger pushes it against perforated plates and the pressure builds along the screw. The honey passes through the holes and falls into the tank; the drained cappings come out at the far end, ready to be melted later. And it works continuously: no batches, no waiting.
01 · WHAT THE AUGER DOES
A plate press squeezes once and then has to be emptied; here the screw drags the mix against the screen and the pressure rises as it advances. That allows working without stopping: you feed it from the top and the two products leave by their own outlets, honey below and drained wax ahead.
The result is wax that no longer carries usable honey on it, and that is what decides whether the cappings season leaves money or leaves it stuck in a bucket.
02 · IT IS ALSO A PRE-FILTER
The perforated plates and internal filters do not only press: they hold back coarse impurities, so the honey that comes out is already clear of comb pieces and wax debris. That is one step less of work for whatever fine filter comes after.
Everything that touches the honey is food-contact stainless steel.
03 · COLD, AND THAT IS THE POINT
This press will work with cappings exactly as they come off the uncapper, at room temperature. It matters because thermal damage to honey is measured, and measured in parameters with legal weight: above 40 °C the HMF starts to rise and the diastase to fall.
The maker allows a light warming, 30 to 35 °C, when the honey is dense or beginning to crystallise: it improves flow and yield, and that band sits deliberately below the 40 °C line. A machine cannot improve a honey's analysis, but it can avoid making it worse.
04 · THE INVERTER IS THE FINE TUNING
The auger speed is set on the machine itself, and setting the speed means setting the pressure and the flow. A fluid rosemary honey does not press like a thick heather, and cappings straight off the uncapper do not press like cappings that have drained overnight.
That adjustment is what avoids forcing the machine when the mix comes in difficult, and what lets you raise the pace when it comes in easy, without overheating anything on the way.
