Detalles de Rotary steam wax melter LYSON

In professional beekeeping, wax recovery is not just about saving money: it’s part of the natural cycle of reusing hive resources. This rotary steam wax melter allows you to melt, separate and recover wax efficiently and effortlessly, whether you're working with fresh cappings, old frames, or wax residues that still hold some value.

What problem does it solve?
When managing a large number of hives, you quickly accumulate cappings, old frames and wax residues. Melting all that material manually—with solar melters, open boilers or water baths—can be slow, messy and inefficient.

Also, after melting frames using traditional systems, a dark, sticky residue remains (commonly called slumgum or wax sludge), which still contains recoverable wax trapped in cocoons, propolis and other debris. This melter lets you spin that residue and recover the remaining wax without the hassle of a hydraulic press.

Best of all, you can load complete frames, wet cappings or broken comb directly into the basket—no need to prepare them in advance. Everything melts and spins in one simple cycle.

What can you melt with it?
Complete frames with wax, no disassembly needed (Langstroth, Dadant Blatt, Layens...)
Wet cappings fresh from the uncapping process
Loose comb and burr comb from swarm capture or hive clean-ups
Slumgum or wax sludge after first melting, as long as it hasn't been pressed

⚠️ Not suitable for already pressed residues: if the wax has already been extracted with a press, what remains is mostly waste.

How does it work?
At the bottom of the drum, a 3000 W electric heating element submerged in water produces steam. This steam rises and heats the contents of a stainless steel basket (Ø3 mm perforations). Once the wax melts, a 250 W motor spins the basket. The centrifugal force flings the liquid wax to the drum walls, from where it flows down to the bottom and out through a stainless steel valve.

Each load takes around 20–25 minutes, and the system includes low-water protection to prevent damage to the heater.

Practical applications
• Recover residual honey when spinning wet cappings
• Melt old brood frames with dark wax and leftover larvae
• Recycle scraps of comb or wild comb from removals
• Extract wax from slumgum after initial melting, without needing a press

Pro tips
• Add 4–5 litres of water before each use. The safety sensor protects the heating element, but always check.
• If melting cappings with honey, allow the output to rest in a decanter—the honey will settle and can be recovered.
• Clean the drum after each use to prevent buildup of propolis and debris.
