01 · THE DIMENSIONS

600 mm long and an 80 mm helix

Total length 600 mm, so it reaches the bottom of a 25-30 kilo bucket and of a 50-100 tank with the machine outside the container; the helix is about 80 mm across, so it goes through 10 cm openings and works in narrow buckets. The shank goes into an ordinary drill chuck; its exact diameter is not published by the maker and we are measuring it. The house’s hand mixer 1620 takes shanks up to 13 mm.

02 · HOW TO USE IT

Submerged, slowly and with the nut tight

Put the spiral into the honey before starting and keep it submerged so as not to beat in air; work in short runs, at low speed and with a drill that gives torque, moving round the bucket without hitting walls, bottom or gate. The French review warns of what matters: tighten the nut at the end of the mixer hard before starting, or it loosens as it turns. Drill unplugged to clean or remove the tool.

03 · WHAT IT DOES NOT DO

Mixing is not creaming

Texture is decided by temperature, seed honey, crystal size and rests; the spiral only does the mechanical job of breaking and homogenising. For jars and small containers there is a 250 mm mixer with a 45 head; for drums, the motorised bucket creamer.
