Manual galvanised-steel wire crimper for restoring tension in wires already fitted to frames.
Its two serrated wheels pinch the wire and form small corrugations; by increasing the effective path between the side bars, the wire becomes firmer for supporting and embedding wax foundation.
01 · TENSION
First thread and anchor the wire under moderate tension. Place one wheel on either side, close the tool and travel from end to end with even pressure. Check the note of the wire and the straightness of the bar before repeating the pass on the next run.
02 · HANDLING
Excessive corrugation can bow the frame, pull out the anchor or break a fine wire. Make a gentle first pass and correct only the sections that remain loose. Keep the wheels free from wax and surface rust, and store the tool dry so that the teeth continue to grip evenly.
