Details of Liquid Colorant for Glycerin Soap 10ml

Water-soluble liquid colourant, 10 ml, for glycerin soap base. Added straight onto the melted base.

It is water-soluble: it works in soap, not in beeswax candles. That confusion is the expensive one, and it is worth settling before you order.

01 · FOR SOAP, NOT FOR WAX

Water and wax do not mix

Beeswax is a fat: a water-based colourant will not dissolve in it. It stays in droplets and stains the candle without ever colouring it. For beeswax candles, the shop stocks the set of seven purpose-made paints.

02 · IT BLEEDS BETWEEN LAYERS

A two-colour soap blurs

Water-soluble colourants migrate from one layer to the next: in a two-tone soap the line looks crisp when you turn it out and blurs over the following weeks. It is not a fault, it is how they behave — if you need a line that holds, the answer is pigments.

03 · HOW MUCH TO ADD

Drops, and judge it cold

Add it drop by drop onto the melted base, stirring without whipping so you do not trap bubbles. Start short: going darker is easy, going back is not.

A clear base gives vivid tones and a white one gives pastels. And do not judge it in the pan: hot colour misleads, and the true tone is the one on the cold bar.
