Plastic honey dipper, 17 cm: the grooved head holds the honey and lets it down in a fine thread as you turn it, to serve from the jar without dripping on the table. Yellow or white, subject to availability.

Runny honey is not served with a spoon: it is wound onto the grooves and let down in a thread, the only way that does not make a mess.

01 · HOW TO USE IT

Dip, turn and lift

Dip the ridged head in the jar, give it a couple of turns and lift it turning: the honey stays caught between the grooves and comes down in a thread you aim at the bread, the yoghurt or the tea; one last short turn cuts the thread. At 17 cm it reaches the bottom of tall 500 g and 1 kg jars. It works with runny honey and with creamed honey; hard crystallised honey does not wind on, it is cut with a knife.

02 · PLASTIC OR WOOD

The everyday one, rinsed under the tap

This is the working dipper: light plastic that does not soak up honey or stain, rinses with water and puts up with the breakfast drawer, the market stall or a fair tasting. The beech one is the pretty one to give with a jar; this is the one you buy several of and lose without drama.
