Details of Snelgrove board

The Snelgrove board separates two parts of a colony while allowing them to share scent through a double grid. Its eight entrances allow for redirecting flying bees from one section to another, depending on the method used.

🚪 Four entrances at the top and four at the bottom.

Each side has an upper and a lower exit. By opening and closing specific pairs on planned days, the destination of the foragers can be changed without directly mixing the two populations.

🐝 For division and swarm management

Used in protocols for separating a strong colony and in managing two queens. The board is the physical tool: the result depends on identifying the queen, brood, stores, and entrances at each stage.

⚠️ Follow a complete protocol and record doors.

An incorrect door disrupts the distribution of bees. Mark each side, note the date and position, and check before changing it. It does not guarantee preventing swarming or maintaining two queens without management.
