Details of Vertical queen excluder Langstroth

Langstroth divider frame with a metal queen excluder built into a wooden frame.

It organises the hive interior while allowing worker passage and restricting the queen, provided the frame fits and closes correctly against the box walls, floor and cover.

01 · COMPATIBILITY

Langstroth only: check the actual chamber opening

The Langstroth designation is a starting point, not a universal fit guarantee. Check rests, tolerances, distortion and propolis on your equipment. The frame must enter without force and must not leave a side, top or bottom route around the excluder.

02 · FUNCTION

Divide the volume without blocking workers

The metal grid is intended to let workers cross while retaining the queen on the chosen side. Performance depends on the perimeter seal, grid condition and colony management. It does not replace inspection and cannot by itself guarantee swarm control or queen acceptance.

03 · INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION

Fit it straight and inspect both sides

Set the divider vertically and seat it like a normal frame without bending the grid. During inspections, look for open wires, warped wood, deposits that create gaps and trapped bees. Work slowly to avoid crushing bees along the edges.

04 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Plan the queen side and the perimeter seal

Make sure your management plan allows brood, stores and usable space to be inspected in both compartments. One divider frame with integrated excluder is supplied; hive, additional frames and gap-filling parts are not included. Measure before ordering if the box is not Langstroth or uses unusual tolerances.
