A coil of white polypropylene strapping, 12 mm wide, with 2000 m per roll and a 200 mm core: the consumable for table-top semi-automatic strapping machines. It closes by heat weld in the machine, and also takes friction welding, metal seals or plastic buckles if you strap by hand.
The embossing, the raised pattern across the face of the strap, is what makes the tension wheel grip rather than slide. It withstands 1400 N of breaking strength with 15 % elongation: it stretches just enough to absorb a knock in transit without snapping, and it holds light loads of up to 300 kg. Being flexible, it moulds to the outline of the package without marking it, unlike steel strapping.
The coil's inner diameter is 200 mm, the standard core size on table-top semi-automatic strapping machines. Each coil carries 2000 m of strap and weighs 8.4 kg: enough for several thousand closures. The service range is -10 to 100 °C, so it copes with the cold of a chill room and the heat of an August store, but it loses tension if the package goes through a hot process.
🌿 At least 30 % recycled plastic in its manufacture, without changing how it behaves in the machine.
