SAF IBIZA manual 4-frame extractor with reversible cage: you change side by reversing the spin, without taking the frame out.
What you pay for here is not touching the frame. An ordinary tangential extractor works one face at a time: to do the other you stop, open up, lift out all four frames, turn them and put them back. With a reversible cage you simply reverse the direction of rotation. Ø 640 mm drum in 18/10 stainless steel.
01 · REVERSIBLE: NO HANDLING
The cage swings on its own when you reverse the spin, so the frames go in once and come out extracted on both faces. Over an afternoon of four supers that is forty handling operations you do not do, without dripping honey across the floor.
That is the practical difference from the fixed tangential machines in our range, which cost between 300 and 500 euros. The premium here buys time and comfort, not capacity: it is still four frames.
02 · ONE FACE AT A TIME, IN ORDER
The order matters and is almost never explained. If you extract one face completely while the other is still full, the weight of the remaining honey has nothing holding it and the comb breaks against the cage, above all on wax drawn out this same season.
The rule is: spin gently and take only part of the first face, reverse and extract the second fully, then reverse again to finish the first. And always build speed gradually: starting hard is how frames get broken.
03 · TANGENTIAL OR RADIAL: CHOOSE
It is worth knowing before you buy: our range has manual radial extractors of 12 and even 20 frames for less than this one costs. A radial extracts both faces at once and needs no reversing at all.
The trade-off is that a radial is gentler and works best with well-drawn super frames. A tangential presses harder on the face it is extracting, which is why it is still the choice for dense honeys and irregular comb. Tell us what frame and what honey you handle.
04 · 40 MM TAP, THE HOUSE LINE
The tap is 40 mm plastic, the inch-and-a-half calibre usual in small installations: it connects to filters and maturers of that line without adapters.
The four cages measure 248 × 40 × 415 mm each and take Langstroth or half-super frames. Measure your frame before ordering, because 415 mm of length is tight for a Langstroth. It comes with clear plastic lids and removable legs.
05 · BEFORE YOU BUY
Four frames and a hand crank.
| ✓ A GOOD FIT | Extracting without handling the frame: reversible cage for 4 Langstroth or half-supers. |
| ⚠ IT IS MANUAL AND HOLDS FOUR | No motor, and the capacity of a small tangential. For more volume, go radial or electric. |
| ✕ NOT THE CHEAPEST PER FRAME | There are manual radials of 12 and 20 frames for less. What this one buys is not touching the comb. |
