01 · TWO FRAMES, BY HAND

For someone with few hives

It turns by hand, with the side crank and a gear drive. There is no motor, and that places it: it is the extractor for a beekeeper with a handful of hives, not for someone about to scale up.

The two pockets take Layens, Dadant or Langstroth frames, and up to four half-super frames, two to a pocket.

02 · TANGENTIAL: YOU TURN THEM

The real sum for each load

Tangentially the frame lies flat against the wall, so it empties one face at a time. The sequence that saves the comb is always the same: first face at low speed and not fully emptied, turn, spin the second right out, turn back and finish the first.

In exchange for that double handling, the force on the honey is far greater than in a radial: that is what solves brood frames and thick honeys.

03 · THE LIDS AND THE LEGS

Two details you use daily

The hinged plexiglass lids let you see inside without stopping: you know when a frame is dry without opening up and without slowing the drum.

And the legs are what let you put the bucket under the tap. An extractor without them has to be raised onto something, and that something is never steady.
