12 + 25 MESH · COARSE AND FINE | Ø24 or Ø32 cm TWO SIZES |
Stainless double sieve with extending arms: it holds back cappings and wax before they reach the honey tank.
Two stacked meshes — 12 mesh on top and 25 mesh below — and arms that adjust to the rim of the vessel. Before choosing, measure your honey tank mouth: not its kilos.
01 · WHICH SIZE YOU NEED
| Ø 24 cm | Mouths from 24 to 35 cm — 25 kg buckets, small 25-60 kg honey tanks |
|---|---|
| Ø 32 cm | Mouths from 32 to 48 cm — 100-200 kg honey tanks, 50 kg buckets and drums |
A 50 kg honey tank and a 200 kg one can have similar mouths, so capacity in kilos is no guide: take a tape and measure the inside diameter of the opening. The arms extend and it is they that rest on the rim and cover that range — the diameter in the name is the sieve's, not the vessel's. A 47-48 cm mouth is the limit of the Ø32; beyond 48 cm this filter no longer sits.
02 · WHY TWO MESHES
The top mesh at 12 mesh (~1.7 mm) takes the coarse: pieces of capping, freshly spun wax, fragments of propolis, the odd leg. The lower one at 25 mesh (~0.7 mm) finishes the fine work — wax microparticles and undissolved pollen, the stuff that later causes uneven crystallisation or sediment at the bottom of the jar. Splitting the job in two stages is what stops the fine mesh blinding within five minutes. All in SUS304 stainless steel, with 65 mm of working depth so honey pools while it drains.
03 · THE WORKING RHYTHM
The more mesh area, the faster honey falls and the longer it takes to clog: that is why the Ø32 is the one that survives a serious extraction day and the Ø24 suits batches. With dense honeys — heather, holm oak — or honey on the cool side, the sieve loads sooner: lifting it, scraping the wax cake and putting it back takes a minute and restores the flow. If you extract from many hives in a row, a second filter ready to swap saves you the stop.
04 · BEFORE YOU BUY
| ✓ FITS | Buckets, honey tanks and drums whose mouth falls inside the chosen diameter's range. |
| ⚠ BEAR IN MIND | Above a 48 cm mouth it will not sit. And the sieve clogs: plan to clean it on big batches. |
