Food-grade plastic honey tank for 42 kg of honey, with a 40/49 honey gate included.

It is called a ripening tank, but it does not ripen honey: it settles it. Straight out of the extractor, honey carries wax fragments, pollen grains and air bubbles. This tank gives it the standing time it needs for those to separate on their own.

01 · PERFORMANCE

Standing and settling, not filtering

Worth saying plainly: a honey tank does not filter. What it does is allow the honey to stand, and in that standing the light particles and bubbles rise while heavier ones may settle to the bottom. How long it takes depends on particle size, density, moisture, temperature and the height of the honey column — not on the vessel alone.

02 · HIVE HEALTH

Skim the top, do not drain the bottom

That gives you the two moves of the process: skim the foam off the surface before bottling, and do not run the tank down to the last drop, because the sediment that has dropped out is sitting right there. At 37 cm tall the column is short, which is what lets a tank this size settle in a reasonable time.

03 · BUILD

Food-grade plastic and a 40/49 gate

Tapered food-grade plastic body, easy to wash out, 38 cm across the top and 32 cm at the base. The 40/49 1½ honey gate is included and lets you fill jars with the flow under control, instead of losing honey down the side of every one.
