01 · THE HEIGHT

More column is more time working for you

Honey does not clean itself in a tank: air bubbles and wax particles rise by difference in density, and the narrower and taller the column, the tidier that journey is. With 668 mm of depth you have plenty of run to rest a whole batch and then skim the layer of foam off the top before bottling. For apiaries of up to fifteen or twenty hives it is enough to work in batches without decanting into another container.

02 · THE GATE

Dripping is fixed at the seat, not by tightening harder

This is what people mention most about this tank, so here it comes with instructions. Before filling, fit the gate with the gasket seated flat and tighten by hand: it is plastic and a tool strips the thread. Check for leaks with water above the outlet. And if it drips between one jar and the next, the culprit is usually not the gasket but a crystal of dried honey in the slide: rinse the outlet hot at the end of every session, before it granulates.

03 · THE PLASTIC

Light and washable, but it does not take heat

Food-grade plastic is light, quick to clean and safe in contact with honey. The real limit is heat: you cannot warm it to liquefy granulated honey the way you would a stainless tank with an element, and it is worth storing it away from sun and heat sources that could distort it. For liquid honey straight off the extractor, it does the job without argument.

04 · WHAT IT DOES NOT HAVE

No graduations: the amount comes from the scales

The body carries no litre scale, so do not try to judge the load by eye from the level: selling or labelling by weight needs scales, and the starting conversion is that a litre of honey weighs around 1.4 kg. Nor is it a transport container: full, it goes to its place and stays there. If you bottle standing up, it matches the 380 mm raising stand.

05 · BEFORE YOU BUY

Check the fit of the lid when it arrives and always keep it on: honey is hygroscopic and a loose closure lets it take up moisture from the store.
